Staff Attorney

About The Position

Staff attorneys draft legal motions, direct the focus of investigative efforts, ensure clients are able to make informed choices regarding their options; and take cases to trial when the client so directs.  They prepare for and appear at various court proceedings including arraignments, preliminary hearings, pre-trial motions, pleas, sentencing, restitution, and trial.  Caseloads may include a combination of misdemeanors, felonies, probation violations, juvenile dependencies, juvenile delinquencies, mental health commitments, and fugitive/extradition matters.  Prefer attorneys who are already felony qualified but encourage entry-level attorneys to apply as well.  We have an in-office training program.  

Minimum Qualifications


  • ·        Must be a member of Oregon State Bar Association or a member in good standing of a Bar with reciprocity who can readily waive into the Oregon Bar at time of hire.

  • ·        Communicates effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing;

  • ·        Is an effective negotiator;

  • ·        Uses initiative and good judgment in completing tasks and responsibility;

  • ·        Is proficient with word processor and legal research software.

  • ·        Is able to effectively analyze, obtain, and evaluate evidence; and

  • ·        Is respectful and courteous with others
