Intermountain Public Defender, Inc. is an eleven-attorney law firm with two investigators and six support staff located in Pendleton, Oregon. We handle a full range of court-appointed matters in Umatilla County’s two courthouses located in Pendleton and Hermiston.  We represent adult and youth clientele in felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile criminal and probation violation matters as well as dependency and mental commitment cases. If one is interested in Tribal law, we also accept court appointments from the Tribal Court of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR). Experience is welcome, especially under our current caseload, but less important than a desire to learn and to represent vigorously our clients in a collaborative, supportive, and friendly environment. We will train you to be the best possible criminal defense attorney you can be. A training manual will be provided. Experienced attorneys (if you have experience you could quickly become one of them) will shepherd your transition. Supervision decreases as your individual skills, ability, and confidence grows. You will not be micro-managed but aided and facilitated in improving your practice of law. We will respect your experience and knowledge as we help you adjust to our circumstances and workload. We will do this with a supportive and positive attitude in an environment that honors your unique personality and skill set. We pay well and have excellent benefits. Bi-lingual candidates are greatly encouraged.
